When I used to review books, I said no to children’s books, not because there are not beautiful examples (the Velveteen Rabbit, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, The Dragon in the Clock Box, Pagoo, Peter Pan, Winne the Pooh, Crin-Blanc all come to mind) but because others were better qualified. Many, like Le Petit Prince (listed here under spiritual), exist as stories for both children and adults. And it’s in this vein that I include The Little White Horse, a timeless classic.
