Perhaps no time more than now is this beautifully evocative book on living with nature as one interconnected species needed. As humankind encroaches more and more on plant and animal habitats, and as greed and growth seem the driving forces of humanity, the sense of what is right for the greater good feels lost. Leopold’s ideas were ahead of his times and astutely prescient.
The Ancient Solitary Reign, Martin Hocke
Much like Watership Down, his fictional story, whose title is taken from Thomas Gray’s, Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard, can do as much to educate young and old minds as to the plight of nature and teach interconnectivity and reverence for all life.
